Cycling tourism has become an integral part of modern holidays, and the area beneath the Tatra Mountains is no exception. Cycling and rollerblading here are accompanied by spectacular scenery, making every ride a true experience. Enthusiasts will appreciate the growing network of bike paths leading in multiple directions from Kežmarok.
One of the longest and most pleasant routes is the continuous cycle path from Kežmarok through the Hájovňa Nature Reserve, past Strážky Castle and its charming green park. The route continues across fields and meadows to Spišská Belá, then through forested landscapes to the Tatra Basin, where you’ll find one of the most beautiful caves in Slovakia — the Belianska Cave.
We also highly recommend the scenic route from Kežmarok to Veľká Lomnica, passing through unspoiled countryside and the village of Huncovce. A true highlight is the breathtaking cycling route to Vrbov, offering magnificent views of the High Tatras and ending at the well-known thermal baths.
While cycling under the Tatras, it’s not unusual to encounter wildlife such as roe deer, deer, foxes, wild boars (in enclosed areas), hares, weasels, and small field voles — a reminder of how close nature truly is.
A popular and well-known cycle path also connects Poprad and Svit, starting in the Kvetnica district and continuing to the final section in the Lopušná Valley.
From Poprad, more demanding yet highly popular cycling routes also lead directly into the Tatra Mountains. The natural wonders of the Slovak Paradise are likewise accessible by bike.
Several of these routes are also suitable for rollerblading, especially the path from Kvetnica through Poprad to the Lopušná Valley, as well as the route from Spišská Belá to the Tatra Basin, which is particularly popular among skaters.
